Every 15 Minutes

Today, I must say, was one of those days that hit me so hard. I'm a senior, and almost graduating. Prom is coming up. We're all excited. But the activity at school today presented so much of the reality that we might not always make it, especially if we're not careful or responsible enough to know what we're doing or what we're not doing. There's this thing called Every 15 Minutes, and it's a program offered by law enforcement to show the reality of drunk driving. I mean, yeah, you hear things about DUI and all this stuff, but you never really take it into consideration until it happens to you or one of your friends. They did this for us today, and so many of my friends were "victims" of drunk driving. The juniors and seniors were taken outside to the scene, and looking at the wrecked cars, the bloody bodies, and the "dead" bodies took a toll on me. It was so realistic. The police and ambulance came, the helicopters were hovering over us. They made it seem as real as possible. I didn't even realize that this activity was taking place today. After the activity, it was really weird not having some of my friends in my class. It was sad, because just the day before, one of them told me, "We'll continue our talk tomorrow," and he wasn't there. And they won't be around school tomorrow either because it's gonna be their "funeral" and they want all of us to take it as serious as possible. We'll hear their last words, if in reality, they had the chance to say them.

I may be taking this too seriously for some of you, especially for it not being real, but I know I'm not the only one. I talked about it with my other friends that were affected as well and it was hard for them to cope.
This event just goes to show that this could happen to anyone. So just be careful.

On a lighter note, I did a look. I was supposed to post it yesterday, but I had no time. Let's just stray away from the sadness that I feel right now. (: I know I'll see them on Friday. And I know that they're safe right now.

I TOTALLY remember that "Every 15 Minutes" program! It was sad! But it's helpful in the way that it scares you into NOT wanting to drink and drive and risk it.

Great FOTD. I LOVE purples. :) They're just so flattering on everyone! :D

I never had "Every 15 Minutes" program when I graduated from high school long long long long time ago... lol~ but I think it's such a great idea to teach students in high school about driving drunk. I know you really didn't lose your friends but at least from this program, you learned to take drinking and driving seriously.

Anyways, back to your FOTD. It's gorgeous. You're such a cutie! :)

i wish they'd do that for some of the kids at high schools around my area... or even some random adults lol. we have a lot of random "check points" though especially at night where cops stop a random amount of cars at a random spot and check to see if you've been drinking.
